Student News 2019-20
As Illinois residents dutifully respected the stay at home order mandated by Governor Pritzker due to the COVID-19 outbreak in mid March 2020, the AIM Performance Exams, scheduled to take place in late April and early May was in flux! With so much uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, many spring events were being canceled as the COVID-19 emerged from crisis to a worldwide pandemic. Fortunately, the resourcefulness of NSMTA leadership chose not to cancel the AIM Performance Exams, but with a great deal of thought and careful planning, launched a virtual process so that students could choose to complete this year. Almost 95% of registered NSMTA students completed the AIM Performance Exams and 100% of our studio completed with incredible success!

Due to the challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Angela's Level 12 Recital was not possible this year, but she met all the requirements, along with video recordings of her Level 12 repertoire to successfully complete Level 12 this year. Angela performed works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Ravel. You can view her video recordings in the Level 12 Recital video links here, as well as the recital program, program notes and bio.

AIM Level 9 Plaque earned in 2020

Congratulations to all students that successfully completed AIM Performance exams this year. While there were no Honors Recitals, all students are highly commended for their strong efforts and achievements!
Congratulations to the following students who earned silver medals at the NSMTA Sonata-Sonatina Festival: Emma Pop, Aleksandra Radovic, Gabriela Radovic, Sofia Radovic, and Angela Wang.
Students earn points each year of participation at the Libertyville Piano Festival, based on their rating. 1st Place rating earns 5 points, 2nd place rating earns 4 points and 3rd place rating earns 3 points. Once students accumulate a total of 15 points, they are awarded a 1st Trophy, and each subsequent accumulation of 15 points earns additional trophies. Congratulations!

The following students were chosen as the Festival's Outstanding Performances this year: Maddy Aquino, Alex Gou, Nina He, Jenny Huang, Sophie Liu, Joy Ning, Ellen Niu, Iris Niu, Emma Pop, Aleksandra Radovic, Gabriela Radovic, Sofia Radovic and Qiqi Zhang. These students will perform in the Festival Honors Recital on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Nemmers Family Chapel in the West Tower of Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
AIM Theory Exams, January 19 and 26, 2019

NWSMTA Sonata-Sonatina Festival, November 3, 2019
Congratulations to all students that participated in the NWSMTA Sonata-Sonatina Festival on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Harper College.
Gold Medal Winners were Alex Gou and Qiqi Zhang. These students were invited to perform in the Gold Medal Winners Recital at the The Garlands of Barrington on Saturday, November 10, 2019.
Silver Medal Winners were Maddy Aquino, Nina He, Samuel He, Jenny Huang, Sophie Liu, Ellen Meng, Joy Ning, Ellen Niu, Iris Niu, Aleksandra Radovic, Gabriela Radovic and Sofia Radovic.
