Studio Policies

Tuition

Tuition covers all weekly lessons, digital assignment/assessments, Group/Performance Classes and Studio Recitals.  

• Fall, Winter and Spring tuition payment is due at the start of each quarter in full or prorated into equal monthly payments from September-May, due at the first week of each month.  
• Summer tuition is per lesson, based on the weeks registered, due at the first week of June and July.

All lessons are 45-minutes, except for young beginners.  Please contact me for fee pricing for young beginners.

Monthly tuition:	$275/month
Fall, Winter, Spring tuition:	$825/quarter
Summer Quarter tuition:	$75/per lesson (based on 45-minute lessons)

Students who will be out of town for an extended period of time during the summer will have the option to continue with Zoom lessons or put their enrollment on hold. 

In addition to sharing my expertise through private lessons, group and performance classes, tuition also covers time spent outside of instructional lessons for curriculum, lesson and event planning, group class planning and preparations, digital assignment preparations, repertoire selections, as well as membership and attendance of local, state and national workshops and conferences for continued education in order to provide the best musical development and opportunities for my students.  Please click this link to read more:  Where Does My Tuition Go?

Missed Lessons and Make Up Policy

Missed lessons due to illness, scheduling or other conflicts, and inclement weather are inevitable.  

• For minor student/teacher illness or inclement weather: Student will have a Zoom lesson during student's regular lesson time.  Students are strongly encouraged to stay home even with minor sniffles or low-grade fever.
• For all other conflicts or illnesses that preclude Zoom lesson during regular lesson time: Lesson will be made up during one of the designated Make Up Days at the end of each quarter.  Limited to 1 makeup lesson per quarter. Lessons not made up by the end of a quarter will not carry over to the next quarter.

Lesson Exchange

For conflicts with advance notice, students are strongly encouraged to exchange lesson time with another student, and is my preferred method.  Student/family will be responsible for making the exchange, but please notify me at least 24 hours prior to the exchanged lessons. Contact information will be made available in September.

Annual $50 Studio Resource and Lending Library Fee 

I have a large lending library of sight playing and supplemental material as well as a growing collection of digital books and other digital resources for student use throughout the year.  There is an annual $50 Studio Fee per student,  which covers access to my extensive lending library, as well as numerous subscription-based digital and technology resources.

Practice Expectations

Students are expected to practice a minimum of 5 days each week;  4 days for beginners and/or young students. General guidelines for practice:

• 15-20 minutes/day for beginners and/or young students.
• 30-45 minutes/day for elementary students (AIM 2-5) 
• 45-60 minutes/day for middle school students (AIM 6-8) 
• 60-90 minutes/day for high school students (AIM 9-12) 

Recital Attendance Policy

All students are expected to participate in at least one studio recital each year, although most students participate in all recitals offered.  Students and family members are expected to stay for the entire recital as a courtesy to all participants.  

Termination of Lessons

Lessons may be terminated at any time.  I will make every effort to accommodate learning styles and busy, active schedules.  However, if practice goals are consistently not met after repeated warnings, I will terminate the lessons.
