Thank you for visiting my studio website!
Students enroll in a weekly 60-minute studio instruction time. Students will have 45-minutes of private instruction time with me, which is immediately followed by 15-minutes of Piano Lab time, working independently on self-directed activities and assignments in a separate Piano Lab room. Beginner students may or may not be enrolled in Piano Lab in their first year of lessons, depending on age and readiness for self-directed activities. Young beginners may request 30-minute private lessons.
Students will receive a print and digital copy of their Piano Lab Assignment Book, which include detailed weekly assignments created in a logical, systematic approach. Using a variety of technological tools, links to drill-based activities will be completed during Piano Lab time to hone in on specific aural and keyboard skills, while weekly homework assignments will help reinforce (AIM) theory concepts. Piano Lab time ensures that students won’t neglect regular review of essential skill elements needed for success. Additionally, less time spent on review during lessons mean more time available to work on repertoire.
In addition to the weekly private lessons, students are enrolled in 5 Group/Performance classes each quarter, scheduled approximately every 2-3 weeks. These classes are grouped by students of similar age and/or level, and provide a social environment for group activities that include theory, ear training, ensemble playing, rhythm drills, and creative activities.
Students will also have the opportunity to perform in an informal Performance Class each quarter.
All Group and Performance Classes are scheduled on Fridays. Missed group classes are not made up and there are no reduction in tuition for students unable to attend some or all group classes.
There are three (3) studio recitals scheduled during the year:
