Jennifer brings a wealth of teaching experience ranging from preschool age beginners to advanced high school students. Jennifer's approach to conceptual learning and active participation in the Achievement in Music (AIM) program has her in high demand as a teacher. Her students have been award winners in local piano festivals and have been invited to perform at local conferences and area winners recitals. Many of her students have achieved the highest level of AIM, presenting Level 12 recitals and have gone on to pursue careers in music.
Jennifer has participated in local, state and national music conferences as a clinician and teacher demonstrator, and stay active as an adjudicator for various piano festivals and competitions in the area. She is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association, Illinois State Music Teachers Association, the North Shore Music Teachers Association, Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association, and the Libertyville Piano Club.
At the local level, Jennifer has served as President, Sonatina Festival chair, and is currently the AIM chair for North Shore Music Teachers Association (NSMTA), 1st Vice President and Program chair for Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association (NWSMTA) and Certification chair for NSMTA and NWSMTA.
At the state level, she is a board member of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association (ISMTA), serving as the Director of Competitions for ISMTA and MTNA competitions as well as a member of the state AIM committee.
At the national level, she has served as the East Central Division National Commissioner for MTNA Certification.
Jennifer has been on faculty at Northwestern Music Academy, Piano Preparatory Division of North Central College, and Keyboard Skills department at DePaul University.
When not busy with piano related activities, Jennifer enjoys knitting, crocheting, exploring new crafting, as well as traveling with her husband, Brad, her co-chair of life and piano events!
Jennifer Cohen resides in Hawthorn Woods, IL where she maintains a successful home studio.
